A well-established, family-owned and operated funeral home serving beautiful Fayette County, Georgia, is seeking a Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer to join our team.

We are looking for an experienced funeral service professional who takes pride in providing exceptional care to families and understands the importance of compassion, attention to detail, and professionalism throughout every aspect of funeral service.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

1. A current Georgia Funeral Director and Embalmer license.
2. Funeral service experience and the ability to quickly integrate into and adapt to an established funeral home operation.
3. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and family-service skills.
4. Proficiency with technology and the ability to comfortably learn and use funeral service software and other digital tools.
5. A valid Georgia driver's license, or the ability to obtain one, with an excellent driving record.
6. The ability to independently manage the details of an active caseload, prioritize responsibilities, and multitask when necessary while creating a meaningful and personal experience for every family we serve.
7. The ability to safely lift 50 pounds or more.

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

• Meet with families to arrange and coordinate funeral and memorial services
• Direct funeral services with professionalism and sensitivity

JOB DESCRIPTION

Funeral Director/Embalmer

• Perform all licensed duties with making funeral arrangements, embalming, and conducting 

services as prescribed by Georgia Law.

• Supervise Apprentices under your license and/or assist supervision under another Funeral 

Director listed as preceptor

• Manage Funeral Assistants, Administrative Assistants and Apprentices assigned to assist in 

arrangements.

• Participate in being on 2nd out removal duties – as necessary.

• Perform all other job duties in the Funeral Home or Cemetery as needed for company needs.

Expectations

• Adherence to all company policies and guidelines.

• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as you work with families, clergy, coworkers, and 

others to plan, schedule and coordinate funerals, burials and cremations.

• Display utmost professionalism as you interact with our families, members of the community, 

and coworkers.

• Attention to detail to ensure the client/family wishes are met and exceeded.

• Complete and execute all necessary paperwork and adhering to company policies and core 

values

• Support of the financial health of the company (expenses, sales, etc.).

Requirements & Qualifications

• Current Georgia State Funeral Director License (or ability to reciprocate from another state)

• Current Georgia State Embalmer License (or ability to reciprocate from another state)

• Bachelor’s degree preferred

• Valid driver’s license and clear driving record

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

• Ability to lift 60+ pounds on your own

• Ability to lift and bend frequently

Work Environment

• Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors regardless of weather conditions.

• Personnel may be exposed to various chemicals and fluids.

• Business attire is required. Personal safety equipment or appropriate attire may be required for 

the cemetery or crematory environments.

• Typically required to work several evenings or weekends each month

General Duties/Responsibilities: 

• Assisting families with planning meaningful funeral/memorial services and following through to be sure all details are planned. This includes contacting ministers, churches, cemeteries, military honors, fraternal organizations, newspaper notices, police escorts, etc. Also responsible for obtaining information for all legal documents. Assisting families with pre-planning.
• Directing and overseeing funeral/memorial services.
• Preparation Room responsibilities will include embalming, dressing, preparing deceased for viewing for burial or cremation, and casketing of deceased.
• Responsible for setting up equipment for funeral/memorial service including, chapel, church, graveside, etc.
• Make removals and work on-call schedule including rotating nights and weekends.
• Willing to be a part of community and be involved with civic organizations or any interest candidate may have.

Education Experience Required Skills: 

• Georgia Funeral Director and Embalmer license or able to obtain.
• Proficiency in overall computer skills such as Word, Excel, etc. and funeral related software used for case files, accounting, and video production.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license.
• Must pass background check and drug test.
• Must be willing to work with team oriented staff.
