General Duties/Responsibilities - Including, but not limited to: 

  • Funeral planning
  • Embalming
  • Pre-Planning
  • Directing and overseeing funerals, viewings, and visitations
  • Funeral set-up and breakdown
  • Preparation of deceased for burial, cremation, viewings, and transport
  • Prepare and publish obituaries
  • Proof and file death certificates
  • On call nights and weekends as scheduled

Requirements:

Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer - Full Time

Lane Funeral Home - South Crest Chapel is looking to add a Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer to our staff.

General Duties/Responsibilities:

  • The Funeral Director/Embalmer is accountable for performing a variety of tasks during the preparation, planning, and execution of the funeral and memorialization process to ensure services run smoothly and that the expectations of our client families and their guests are exceeded
  • Consults with client families or legal representative of the deceased to create services designed to meet their memorialization expectations
  • Ensures that client families are presented with all merchandising and service options available
  • Obtains information needed to complete required documents such as obituaries, death certificates, burial permits, and insurance
  • Coordinates all service arrangements and details with clergy, other presiding persons, fraternal or military organizations, and others who may participate in conducting the funeral service
  • Utilizes systems to record merchandise selections, enter contracts, and complete necessary forms
  • Plans, schedules, and conducts visitations and services
  • Oversees all employees participating in services, ensuring that each member of the team understands their individual role and is professionally representing the location
  • Prepares the deceased, including dressing and casketing
  • Places casket in visitation area, adjusts light fixtures, and arranges or supervises arrangement of flowers or plants
  • Directs and ushers families and services attendees to and from the location of the funeral service
  • Supervises and assists in the transportation of client families to ensure a timely departure and arrival
  • Arranges and coordinates shipment of remains to and from other cities and locations
  • Instructs and oversees work of Apprentice Funeral Directors on services and paperwork
  • Works on-call /first call, as needed
  • Performs other duties, as assigned

Required Skills:

  • College degree or some college
  • 2 years GA Funeral Director’s/Embalmers License
  • Valid state issued driver’s license in good standing and acceptable driving record
  • High degree of overall computer proficiency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to effectively present information to client families, co-workers, and leadership
  • Demonstrated willingness to participate in growing market share through personal community involvement

General Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Arranges and conducts memorial and funeral services in a professional, organized and caring manner consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Handles contracts, legal documents, and collection of payment in accordance with company policies. 
  • Embalming, including verifying identification of the deceased and obtaining authorization for embalming.

Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer - Full Time

General Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assisting families with planning meaningful funeral/memorial services and following through to be sure all details are planned. This includes contacting ministers, churches, cemeteries, military honors, fraternal organizations, newspaper notices, police escorts, etc. Also responsible for obtaining information for all legal documents. Assisting families with pre-planning. 
  • Directing and overseeing funeral/memorial services. 
  • Preparation Room responsibilities will include embalming, dressing, preparing deceased for viewing for burial or cremation, and casketing of deceased. 
  • Responsible for setting up equipment for funeral/memorial service including, chapel, church, graveside, etc. 
  • Make removals and work on-call schedule including rotating nights and weekends. 
  • Willing to be a part of community and be involved with civic organizations or any interest candidate may have. 

Education/Experience/Required Skills:

  • Georgia Funeral Director and Embalmer license or able to obtain. 
  • Proficiency in overall computer skills such as Word, Excel, etc. and funeral related software used for case files, accounting, and video production.
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license. 
  • Must pass background check and drug test. 
  • Must be willing to work with team oriented staff
