Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer

Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand is seeking a full-time Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for 320 calls a year family-owned and operated West Georgia firm. Up to 60,000 as reflective of experience.

General Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Funeral Directing
  • Embalming
  • Knowledge of, and compliance with, all Federal, State, and local laws pertaining to providing funeral services, including FTC and OSHA
Qualifications:
  • Licensed in the State of Georgia as a Funeral Director and Embalmer or licensed in another state with the ability to reciprocate a Georgia license within reasonable period of time.
  • Compassionate heart for serving the needs of families.
  • Well versed on embalming and obtaining successful results.
  • Experience in conducting arrangement conferences with families.
  • Some knowledge of funeral home computer programs and/or willingness to learn.
  • General knowledge of Georgia laws in relation to pre-need funding. Able to manage part-time staff. Able to relocate to West Georgia area at the expense of the funeral home. Physically able to perform job duties as required. Lifting, push and pull, standing for longer periods of time, all a requirement. Dress and maintain personal appearance.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Up to 60,000 as reflective of experience

  • Paid vacations. Weeks dependent on experience.
  • Approximate 40 hours a week with alternating weekends. Days off during the week when weekend is scheduled

Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hold or be able to obtain a South Carolina and Georgia Funeral Director and Embalmer License in a reasonable amount of time as mutual agreed upon prior to hire date.

  • Advise and assist families in funeral planning and direct and carry out all funeral plans in accordance with the standards set forth in our Posey Policy and Procedure Guidebook.

  • Always treat and care for descendent in a respectful and professional way.
  • Comply with all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and with all Posey company policies and procedures.
  • Discuss and explain all services and selections questions in accordance with the FTC Funeral Rule and be comfortable in explaining the value of what we do to the consumer.
  • Wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required to perform specific duties.
  • Dress and maintain personal appearance with the standards set forth by our Posey Policy and Procedure Guidebook.
Education, Licensure and General Skill Requirements:
  • A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized education program at a trade school combined with apprenticeship in this field.
  • Minimum of one-year of related work experience
  • Valid Driver’s License and transportation to and from work
  • Possess the proper accreditation to meet licensing requirements in South Carolina and Georgia for funeral directing and embalming
Essential Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to hazardous substances subject to government requirements; occasional lifting, pushing and pulling, with assistance, of objects up to approximately 600 pounds
  • Manual dexterity required for clerical tasks
  • Occasional stooping, bending, pushing, pulling and carrying objects weighing up to approximately 30 pounds for short distances

Southern Cremations & Funerals in Marietta, GA is seeking a full-time Funeral Director/Embalmer.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform all licensed duties with making funeral arrangements, embalming, and conducting services as prescribed by Georgia Law
  • Supervise Apprentices under your license and/or assist supervision under another Funeral Director listed as preceptor
  • Manage Funeral Assistants, Administrative Assistants and Apprentices assigned to assist in arrangements
  • A desire and ability to discuss pre-arranged funerals with clients and inform them of memorial options at our facility
  • Perform all other job duties in the Funeral Home or Cemetery as needed for company needs
