Mrs. L. Elbert Hickman, (Jamie McLeod Hickman), 94, of Valdosta, died at Langdale Hospice House on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. Born in Wilcox County, Georgia on March 22, 1922, Jamie was a daughter of the late Edith Dennard McLeod and John Hendley McLeod, Sr.  She had attended Valdosta State University and Mercer University.  Jamie worked for and retired from C&S Bank. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where she served on several church committees and was a member of the Joy/Fidelis Sunday School Class.  Jamie was a Master Bridge player.  

Jamie is survived by her nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Elbert Hickman, daughter, Carol Hickman Weitala, sister, Anne M. McKinney and brother, John Hendley McLeod, Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Mac Weaver will officiate.  Interment will be at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to a favorite charity.
