Henry C. Joiner, 88, of Valdosta and Nashville, died on Monday, February 20, 2017, at Fellowship Home in Nashville, GA. Born on October 15, 1928 in Valdosta, he was the son of the late Maude Lorene Cox and John Gordon Joiner. Mr. Joiner was a retired Funeral Director and Embalmer.

He attended Valdosta High School and played trumpet in the Marching Cat Band. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he began his career in funeral service with the McGowan Funeral Home. In 1968 Mr. Joiner went to work for the Carson McLane Funeral Home where he served the community through funeral service for 30 years before retiring in the late 1990's. After retirement, he and his beloved wife, Viva Southall Joiner, enjoyed traveling to see friends and relatives in Highlands, NC where he worked hard to deplete the trout population. They relocated to Nashville, GA where their daughter Pam and husband Bob lived. Mr. Joiner continued his love for helping families as he had since 1952 with occasionally helping at Lovein Funeral Home. He was blessed to make his home the last seven years at Fellowship Home in Valdosta and Nashville. He was loved and cared for by the staff and considered them his family.
