GAVERS September Maintenance - Features and Fixes
The State Office of Vital Records recently conducted maintenance on the GAVERS application. Below is a list of the features and fixes that are now available. If you have any questions about the deployment, please reach out to your regional consultant.
Update on Walk-in Services
Due to the public health state of emergency surrounding COVID-19, we have suspended Vital Records walk-in services at the State Office of Vital Records until further notice. You may request birth and death records online using one of our approved third party vendors (ROVER, Go Certificates, or VitalChek) or visit your local county office. It is strongly recommended that you call first, before visiting your county office. If you would like to make a change or correction to a vital record, please mail your request, along with the required documentation, to our facility. Our mailing address is 1680 Phoenix Blvd., Suite 100, Atlanta, Georgia 30349. For all other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 404-679-4702. Our Communications Center will be open from 8:00am to 4:30pm to assist you during this time. Stay safe and be well.
**Due to the public health state of emergency surrounding COVID-19, processing times for all vital records requests may be delayed.
Guidance from the State Registrar - COVID-19 Death Certificate Amendments
Greetings from the State Office of Vital Records,
To amend a death certificate to add “COVID-19” the certifying physician, medical examiner, or coroner must submit a written request detailing the changes needed, along with at least one piece of evidence from an official source, such as a positive lab test for COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2), or a medical record clearly stating the diagnosis of COVID-19. All requests should be e-mailed to email@example.com along with the scanned documentation. If e-mail is not an option, the request can be mailed to the State Office of Vital Records at this address:
This requirement to submit medical evidence does not apply if fixing a simple spelling mistake, like “COIVD-19” to “COVID-19” or when updating a pending death certificate that did not previously have a cause of death.
