Join us for “Mortuary Response to Puerto Rico” with Michael Gedert, Cincinnati Equitable Life Insurance Company
Michael Gedert is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer who has served on state and federal Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Teams (DMORT) since 1987. His years of deployment experiences and diverse assortment of missions has provided a broad perspective for disaster mortuary response. This program will look at the mortuary response mission and the role Funeral Directors played in the response to Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. After the major hurricane ravaged the island, storm deaths and post storm deaths began to overwhelm the one coroner on the island of 3.5 million people. The program will also look at how the lack of power, clean water, fuel, transportation and safe roadways impacted the population and funeral home operations. It will also discuss the debate that is still in the news regarding the true death toll from the hurricane.
2 Hours of Continuing Education have been approved by the Georgia State Board of Funeral Service & Alabama Board of Funeral Service.
