Welcome to the memorial page for

Pauline "Polly" Veal Boone

November 4, 1928 ~ April 4, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Mrs. Pauline "Polly" Veal Boone, 88, of Ocilla, Georgia, formerly of Adel, Georgia, passed away Tuesday April 4, 2017 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia. Polly was born on November 4, 1928 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Charles June Graham and Mattie Pearl "Nanny" Moore.

Polly was a graduate of Cook County High School in Adel, GA and she attended Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. She was an active member of Holt Baptist Church since 1952 until relocating to Adel, Ga in 2002. She served on the Social Hall Building Committee and was chairman of the church sign committee. Polly aided in the establishment of the "Ocilla Business Association" and served as President for several years.

Having always worked in Fashion Merchandising, Polly decided in early 1978 to open a shop of her own. At that time, Ocilla was booming and there were no buildings available for rent or sale. This led her to purchase a lot and the construction of a new free standing building at 104 West 4th Street in Ocilla. Her successful business is fondly remembered as "Polly's". Polly was true to her slogan "Fashions to Fit Your Lifestyle." Customers traveled from near and far to shop at Polly's and most of them required "her special touch." A lady once said "she has a knack for knowing what her customers liked and how to fit them." Polly's daughter briefly worked with her at the shop and recalls Ms. Frances Fuller always saying she was "tantalized" by Polly and her shop. Polly was noted for the beautiful floats she designed for the annual Sweet Potato Parade which were always pulled by her husband, Elton, who was also active in her business. Polly was also known for her fabulous annual fashion shows of which her husband and children were actively involved. Her grand-daughters danced for entertainment at one of the shows to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." All girls, young and old, certainly had fun shopping at Polly's!

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband of 44 years, Elton Veal, Jr. and her second husband of 19 years, Vernon A. "Pete" Boone; a brother and his wife, Robert June Graham and Catherine Graham; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Griggs Graham. Polly is survived by her son and daughter: Gary Elton Veal and Dorie Colbert, and Susan Veal Daniel and Allen Shealey, all of Ocilla; four step-children: Dale V. and Dawn Boone of Adel, Deann B. Rassatt and Debi B. Weidinger, both of Valdosta, GA, and Dr. David and Pam Boone of Macon, GA; grandchildren: Daniel Elton and Stacy Veal of Valdosta, Paige and John Crawford, Kristin and Trey Davis, Amanda and Eric Gray, Lauren Veal McCurdy and Jeffrey Baker, all of Ocilla; step-grandchildren: Tyler and Miranda Boone, Tanner Boone, Turner Boone all of Adel,GA: Adam Rassatt, Amber and Luke Voigt, Carly and Carter Weidinger all of Valdosta, GA: MacKenzie Boone and Dillon Boone of Macon, GA; great-grandchildren: Sydney Powell, Jonathan Rowell, Ayden Powell, Madelyn Grace Veal, Kaelan Paige Davis, Bristol Claire Gray, Austin Elton Veal and Logan McCurdy; step-great-grandchildren: Kenly Boone, Kolby Boone, Jacob Johnson and Charlee Johnson; a brother, US Army Retired Lieutenant Colonel Charles M.
