July 27, 1926 ~ November 29, 2016 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Helen Tucker Evans, 90, of Manchester and a recent resident of Roosevelt Place in Warm Springs, died Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the Warm Springs Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm, Friday, December 2, 2016 at the chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Manchester with Rev. Dan Dixon officiating. Entombment will follow in the Meriwether Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Miles Wadsworth, Drew Kirk, Dru Goodwin, Jeff Barbee, Danny Flynn and Frank Carter serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 1:30 until 3:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.

Helen was born in Manchester, Georgia on July 27, 1926 the daughter of Walter Rogers Tucker and Blanche Lagrone Tucker.  She graduated from Manchester High School as Salutatorian and attended college in Carrollton, Georgia at West Georgia College.

For several years Helen was employed in the office of Callaway Mills.  She spent most of her adult life, however, assisting her husband, James T. Evans, Sr. at Cox Funeral Home in Manchester.  Helen was a member of Manchester First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.  She had also been an active member of the Governor George W. Towns Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Evans, Sr. and seven siblings, Jewel Tucker Frazier, Lucille Tucker Sanders, Walter Harold Tucker, John William Tucker, Ruth Tucker Woodyard, Joan Tucker Wolfe, and Jean Tucker Carter.

Survivors include  three children Mary Jane (Danny) Wadsworth, Nancy (Greg) Gregory, and Jimmy (Monica) Evans; grandchildren Margaret (Dru) Goodwin, Sissy (Drew) Kirk, Lauren (Jeff) Barbee, Miles (Katy) Wadsworth, Hillary (Danny) Flynn, Jennifer Gregory, and Ansley Evans, eight great-grandchildren,  numerous nieces and nephews, and her long-time caregiver, Vickie McCarty.
