Ellen Barron Adams

Ellen Barron Adams, 82, died early Wednesday morning October 11, 2017 at her residence after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Friday at Christ Episcopal Church in Dublin, GA. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 before the service in the church.

Mrs. Adams was born in Bibb County but lived in Laurens County all of her life. She was the daughter of the late Dr. O.D. and Eva Nelson Barron. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald C. Adams, Sr. She was a graduate of Brenau Academy in Gainesville, GA and received her B.S. Degree from the University of Georgia where she was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, and Phi Beta Kappa Scholastic Societies and Phi MU Sorority. She was a member of the Dublin Girls Cotillion Club, the Women’s Study Club, and a retired member and past President of the Dublin Service League. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Dublin and served on the Vestry from 1976 until 1979. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of Adams Funeral Home, Inc., and of the Rentz Banking Company. She worked for many years for the Barron Family Partnership which owned the Rentz Banking Company, Barron Fertilizer Co., Rentz Ginning Company, Rentz Bonded Warehouses, Barron Insurance Agency and Barron Farms.

She is survived by her son, Gerald C. Adams, Jr.(Emily) of Dublin. Grandson David B. Adams of Atlanta. Sister Marie B. Gillis of Soperton, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. And by her very special friends, Ann Johnson, Al Lamb, Francis Lewis, Jane Holliman, and Joann Hilburn, who along with others too many to name, brought joy, love and light to her life.

A tremendous thank you to Della Stanley, Willa Washington, Andrea Billue, Evelyn Pauldo, and Retha Wright who through all the years of her illness took wonderful care of her and by doing so allowed her to remain in her home. And most especially to Gregory Tucker without whom we would never have been able to make this journey.

Pallbearers will be David B. Adams, Gregory Tucker, Francis M. Lewis, Barron N. Gills, Neil L. Gillis IV, Ben Watson.

In lieu of flowers contributions to Christ Episcopal Church in Dublin in her memory would be appreciated by the family.

Reece Funeral Home in Jeffersonville has charge of arrangements.
